Les Walrond and John Webb combined on a six-hitter as host Iowa blanked Albuquerque, 8-0, on Wednesday.
Walrond (2-0) allowed four singles while striking out four in six innings. The 30-year-old left-hander won his second straight start and has yielded just two runs over 17 innings this season.
Webb surrendered two singles and hit a batter over three frames to pick up his first save. Neither Walrond nor Webb walked a batter.
Mike Fontenot went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for the Cubs (7-6), while Angel Pagan collected two hits, scored three times and drove in a run.
Isotopes starter Paul Mildren (1-1) surrendered four runs on five hits in five innings. He fanned two and walked two.
