I'm saving my tears... by johnnyyankee
I saw Jorge weep, and I had so much sympathy for this tough guy who always showed just that, toughness. He was not the Captain, but was as if he was, if not ask Pedro Martinez. Sure, catchers are tough, maybe tougher than any of the other players, and Jorge was just that, yet as sad as it was and as touching, I'm saving my tears. In another year or so, Mariano will do the same, and that's when I will probably shed some tears. I could live with Jorge retiring and even Jeter, but Mariano, I honestly don't know how I will be able to adjust to that, to digest something of the sort. This special human, athlete, Yankee, well God should allow him to pitch for us, forever. Make an exception with him, but we all know that it's not possible. He will retire like everyone does, but only that his retirement will be tougher to swallow, to accept.
Jorge, Jeter, and Mariano, have left each their individual legacy, yet of the three, somehow Mariano's is unique! Maybe is his way of being more so than what he has accomplished. I bet that even a guy like Papelbon loves the guy, for who doesn't? That he's been great, sure, for no reliever has even come close to what he has done, but it's just his humbleness, the way he conducts himself, his image, his being, that will make it tough to hear his retirement. Yes, I am saving my tears for that day, and I hope it never comes, but it will...
